Recycling is a waste of money, and the way we do it doesn’t accomplish anything that makes a real difference to the environment. for starters, we use an entire fleet of giant diesel exhausting recycling trucks, all pumping out just as much shit as the original fleet of giant diesel exhausting garbage trucks. Not to be forgotten, is the power and electricity that goes into running the massive recycling plants we’ve built, ones lovingly constructed in remote areas where we cut down a forest and ripped up the earth. Finally, we pay for it, literally, our tax dollars pay for a majority of recycling costs.
What we need is for the government to grow some balls and swiftly legislate some change, swift change comes in times of crisis, like war, this isn’t a war, but this is definitely a time of crisis. the environment we live in shouldn’t be treated like something fun we enjoy on sunday afternoon, it sustains our life everyday on this earth. imagine we live in a goldfish bowl, and all we do is shit in it. you can’t swim too long in a bowl of shit before you choke.
The simplest plan is to stop recycling programs all together, take the millions we put into that, and work towards harmonizing our wasteful habits with the earth, stop manufacturing shit out of oil byproducts. We as humans are not going to change any time soon, we’re not going to stop buying garbage from corporations, they’ve enslaved us and raised our children to crave garbage, we might as well make them responsible for the environmental havoc we allow them to wreak on the planet. They create the waste, we buy it, and then pay more to poorly cleaned it up.

Simply create a program, call it something really governmental, like, “Corporate Recycling Incentive Program”, Wherein the company is heavily “Incentive-ized” to sell all products in biodegradable packaging. Giving tax breaks, Gov funding, all the good stuff corporations love, but it actually goes towards a massive change. If Corps’ don’t follow, then one of the fun little incentives can be fines for all products wrapped in packaging that is not biodegradable and they would have to pay for different levels of harm their packaging causes the environment i.e. how long it takes to break down. multiplied buy the number of packaging units sold, equals exciting fine in monster dollar amount.
‘Why not force companies to take their packaging back? Back, from any customer as part of their mandated service program?’
If packaging was environmentally friendly, and garbage bags biodegradable, it eliminates all need for costly recycling programs, we could bury our garbage, and have natural land fills, leaving us with guilt free environmentally friendly waste, from garbage dump, to giant compost heap.
